Hi there and welcome to this week’s guide for what to get up to this week in and around Fife.
As usual, we’ll have a pub, restaurant and a few gigs to go to at the weekend.
Pub of the week
Ship Tavern, Anstruther
"Popped in for a quick drink and were blown away by the welcome, definitely not the sort of welcome you'd expect from a pub. The landlord (we presume) was friendly, knowledgeable and boy, could he make a wicked Gin and and Tonic.
Lovely place which you should visit if you're in Anstruther - we didn't eat anything but food in a chiller cabinet on the bar looked very good too.
Will definitely return next time we're in Anstruther"

Keeping in with the Anstruther theme for wining and dining this week, why not have a drink then head to the restaurant? Or vice versa, or both :)
Restaurant of the week
The Cellar Restaurant, Anstruther
"The Cellar is a unique and one of a kind restaurant situated in the heart of the East Neuk of Fife. An area with a rich fishing heritage and traditions. Over the centuries The Cellar was used as a Cooperage, building barrels for salting the local fleets Herring catch. A fishermen’s store and even a smoke house.
Reopened in 2014 by Local Lad Billy Boyter, his ethos at The Cellar is simple. To source and promote the best local and Scottish produce throughout the seasons. Making good use of the surroundings by foraging local seaweeds and other edible plant species.
The cooking at The Cellar is modern and simple, but still very much in touch with our past traditions and heritage. Every effort is put into keeping old practices alive such as drying, fermenting, salting and smoking. These are all important elements in our cooking."

Gigs
Tonight - The Horsenecks - Kirkcaldy Acoustic Music Club
"With roots in Portland, Oregon and Liverpool, England The Horsenecks play a dynamic mix of American roots music that they bring to life with the high-energy performance of a group of people who love the music they play.
Top-shelf musicianship and a love of the lost art of Old Time music are swiftly making them a well-loved and highly respected staple in the traditional music scenes in the US and the UK.
Gabrielle Macrae; Fiddle, banjo, guitar
Barry Southern; Banjo, fiddle, guitar
Chris Marshal; Bass
Dave Searson; Guitar.
"...on every track their talent is self evident...
...Gabrielle’s fiddle playing has a real energy and a complexity
that is stunning...
...Barry’s banjo style is jaw dropping whether
he is playing the open back banjo and clawhammer style to
produce melodic and mellow tones or the bluegrass picking
style..." -Sue Rooke, OLD TIME NEWS No. 84 Winter 2015-16"
